This car is actually on the market, and has been for several years. While the Hybrid craze has faded a bit, cars like the Chevrolet Volt are still very popular. And while true electric cars like the Tesla Model S are available today, not everyone can afford to buy one.
Hybrid vehicles, of which there are all sorts, are the best alternative and will remain that way for a long time to come. As the future progresses, cars like the Volt, will become less and less reliant on fossil fuels and more in tune with an electric future.
